Bestuzhev N.I. et al. Stability of Production Processes and Outlooks for Increasing Vermicular Graphite Iron Castings Production
The present article reviews the methods of vermicular graphite iron inoculation, indicates the fields of application of this promising material in mechanical engineering. Ways of resolving the problem of increasing the volume of VGI casting production, related to the stability of vermicular graphite crystallization in high-carbon iron alloys, are outlined.

Kiselyova N.A. et al. Investigation into Mechanical Properties of Economically Alloyed Steel
Effect of the chemical composition of grade 90G9AVL steel on its main mechanical properties has been investigated under industrial and laboratory conditions. By processing the results of experimental meltings by the method of mathematical statistics the main influencing elements, character of their influence and the kind of regression dependencies between the parameters under investigation have been established. Possibility of substituting nitrogen for part of manganese in manganese steels of the type 110G13L has been analyzed. The obtained results can be used as a basis for optimizing the chemical composition of grade 90G9AVL steel with the purpose of obtaining the required mechanical characteristics.

Kablov E.N. et al. Manufacturing Techniques of Modelling Weights from Ceramic Forms for Moulding on Sucelted Models
Essentially new technology of removal of modelling structures from ceramic OF, consisting in influence on the form is offered by energy of electromagnetic radiation of the MICROWAVE-RANGE. In the beginning of process as a result of a sharp heatstroke melted off a surface of model, forming a backlash between model and the form which, compensating expansion of model, completely excludes probability of formation of cracks on the form. By definition of optimum technological parameters of removal of modelling weights works are lead to the MICROWAVE-FLOOR. Application of offered technology allows to use repeatedly modelling weights, to avoid negative influence of the heat-carrier and an additional stage of its heating. The method ecologically pure besides it is high productive, promotes significant reduction of power inputs, provides quality of a surface and high physicomechanical characteristics of forms. Process can be easily automated.

Zherebtsov S.N. et al. Centrifugal Electroslag Casting
A method of centrifugal electroslag casting of die blanks with a predetermined level of physical-and-mechanical properties has been proposed. Comparative results of chemical analysis, mechanical properties, production tests of cast electroslag metal and forged metal after induction melting are given. It has been shown that the mechanical properties of steel obtained by the centrifugal electroslag casting are on the level of the investigated forged 5XHM metal, and surpass the latter by the service characteristics. Enhanced flame erosion resistance of dies is explained.

Dotsenko P. et al. The Modern Coremaking Equipment — a Prerequisite for the Foundry Industry's Competitiveness

Chichko A.N. et al. Model of Slag Entrapment Dynamics in the Gating System
A calculation of motion paths of slag particles in the gating system channels made it possible to establish that the velocity of melt in the slag trap and the "runner/slag trap" cross-section area ratio exert crucial influence on the retention of non-metallic particles in the gating system. The proposed model for calculating the motion of particles can be used in designing gating systems for sand mold casting.

Budanov Y.N. A Concept of Strategic Development of the Modern Holding Structure of Machine-Building Plants

Boldin A.N. The Foundry Industry from the Point of View of Unified Assessment of Ecological Compatibility
The author suggests introducing a unified indicator of ecological safety of casting production. That method will allow obtaining objective comparative characteristics of individual processes and a foundry as whole.
