Sedelnikov V.V. et al. Self-Controlled Process of Solution Crystallization when Being Modified with Superdispersed (Nano) Powders
Crystallizing solutions are considered as open systems. Quasi-periodical oscillations of surface tension of solutions have been established practically and on the strength of it the self organization of polycrystals at crystallization of solutions is studied.
The influence of ultradispersed (-nano) powders on self-organization of structures at crystallization of solutions is shown.
Systems like a solution or a melt plus ultradispersed (-nano) powder are considered as ultradispersed systems and are classified under nanotechnology.

Voronin Y.F. et al. Complex Resolving of Casting Quality Improvement Issues
The article discusses problems that are permanently faced by foundrymen in the casting production process. These problems include precise classification of difficult types of casting defects; correct determination of their causes; determination of methods of eliminating defects; simulation of conditions of solidification of casting hot spots; simulation of gas formation process in a mold, and others.
For efficiently resolving the problems, a developed complex of automated systems is discussed. Use of the developed complex or a part thereof, with obligatory author's supervision of teaching and getting production skill in improving casting quality, will considerably increase the efficiency of process development work and sharply lower the rejects.

Kvasha F.S. et al. Influence of Core Rests on the Properties of Molding Sands. Part II
Rests of broken cores (core rests) getting into molding sands during shakeout cause a lower binding capacity of bentonite, uncontrollable change in their grain base, lower mixing rate and higher bentonite consumption. Core rests that have not undergone thermal action, in the first place, those made by the hotbox process and coldbox- amine process, cause a higher gas evolution in sands and impair their strength in the moisture condensation zone.

Kiselyov V.N. et al. Process for the Production of Sodium-Silicate Bonded Sand with Foaming Agents as an Alternative to the RAS Paste
Work has been done to replace the surface-active substance RAS, which is not produced any longer at ecologists' request, with an equivalent foaming agent. The work was carried out under production conditions at OAO Nosta. The results allowed recommending to use the wetting agent NB produced by OOO Rubezhensky Smesitel as a foaming agent in the preparation of sodium-silicate bonded sands.

Kamensky V.V. et al. Vibropressing Cold-Hardening Sand Molds for Ribbed Castings
The theoretical dependences and parameter experimental data of cold-hardening mixtures vibrotightening during manufacture of casting with complicated ridge surface are suggested. Tightening process of cold-hardening mixtures with simultaneous influence of vibration and pressing is considered from a position of rheology and in view of features of the foundry form for the electric motor. The regularity ascertainment of process and their application allowed receiving high-quality forms and castings and providing production of competitive electric machines in the world market.

Sapchenko I.G. et al. Precision of Removable Patterns and Quality of Shell Molds in Investmet Casting
As a result of experiments it has been found that the tested combined removable patterns do not have any expanding effect on shell molds, and the rate of their removal is adequate to the rate of melting of removable porous patterns. Mixtures of wax-like base binder and water-soluble components of combined removable patterns, made by molding, are notable for higher dimensional and geometrical accuracy, and, due to internal porosity for absense of expanding effect on shell molds at removal, which results in lower casting production cost.

Prechtl M. et al. "Intelligent" Tooling in Metal Mold and Die Casting

Smykov A.F. et al. Computer-Aided Calculation of the Casting Position in the Mold in Investment Casting Process
Methods of calculating the selection of a variant of the initial stage of developing the investment casting process - selection of the casting position in the mold, type of gating system, etc. have been developed. The methods have been tried for the production of complex castings - turbine nozzle blade sectors with complex structural components. The methods have been developed so that an optimum variant can be chosen.

Gruzman V.M. et al. Computerizing the Molding Materials Control
A computer-aided method of controlling molding materials, in particular, the sand grain size distribution, and an optical method of determining the clay component have been proposed. The computerization of the control will allow maintaining the feedback between the naturally varying properties of the initial materials and the adjustment of the sand preparation process.
