Batyshev A.I., Batyshev K.A. Formation of hot tears in steel castings depending on solidification conditions. Part II
Part II of the article considers the variation of free linear shrinkage of 25L GOST 977-88 carbon steel when cast in molds: made ofgreen bentonite-bonded sand, dry clay-bonded sand, water glass bonded sand, and metal molds. Presented are data on the character and speed of growth of the free linear shrinkage of carbon steel crystallizing and cooling in those molds. Attention is drawn to the possibility of cracking in chill-mold castings and some other castings forming under the conditions of steel’s free linear shrinkage.
Key words: Castings, carbon steel, solidification, cooling, foundry molds, free linear shrinkage, cracking.

Marukovich E.I., Stetsenko V.Y. Silumin with globular silicon – perspective material for the industry
Methods of receiving silumin with globular silicon are developed. Preparations from this new antifriction material are marketed. Details from silumin with globular silicon on wear resistance and a resource of work do not concede, or surpass similar details from production antifriction bronze, but is easier and cheaper than them three times.
Key words: Silumin, globular silicon, casting, casting, hardening hardening, jet crystallizer, antifriction properties.

Firstov A.P. The influence of the composition of liquid sodium glass on the porosity foundry washes
Not properly selected liquid glass paint can cause marriage on the castings.
Key words: Liquid glass paint, porosity, structure.

Livshits V.B., Bezpalko V.I., Mamedova I.Y. Effect of low-pressure casting parameters on the density and structure of Al alloy castings
Considered are possibilities of making Al alloy parts by the low-pressure casting method. Studied is the effect of pressure on the density and structure of AM5 alloy castings.
Key words: Alloy, pressure, density, casting, shape, structure.

Belobrov Y.A., Karpenkova O.L., Belobrov L.Y., Belobrov K.Y., Belobrov Y.L. Determining the gas permeability of burn-on preventing washes for gasifiable pattern casting
Considered are some peculiarities of burn-on preventing washes for gasifiable pattern casting. It is shown that the cohesion of burn-on preventing washes with polystyrene foam patterns depends on the origin of polystyrene foam and its quality. Making the wash layer thickness >0.3 mm is fraught with mold clogging, “shooting” and metal splashes. When washing polystyrene foam patterns, wash slipping down from them is observed, the causes of which being – offgrade polystyrene foam, too fine-grained polystyrene foam, leftovers of parting coats on the press mold, overdrying of patterns. Measures of preventing wash slipping down from patterns have been worked out. Testing 10 types of imported burn-on preventing washes showed their zero gas permeability. It is suggested that a standard shouldbeworked out and a procedure of determining the gas permeability of burn-on preventing washes should be enacted.
Key word:Burn-on preventing washes for gasifiable pattern casting, gas permeability of wash layer, polystyrene foam pattern, wash “slipping down” from pattern, determining the gas permeability of washes.

Sorokina V.E. About formation of castings from the Cu–Zn alloy in accelerated cooling conditions
Unlike traditional casting, the technique of metal casting into the cooling liquid comprises pouring of the metal into aspace that is not limited by the walls of the mold, which promotescrystallization under the conditions of fast cooling. Investigation of castings made of brass of grade L63, obtained via casting into water, reveals that such working method affects the structure of Cu–Zn alloy, while formation of castings depends on the extent ofsupercooling of an alloy and its crystallization rate.
Key words: Casting of metal, brass, coolant, alloy structure, rate of crystallization, formation of castings.

Muravyov Y.N., Druzhevskiy M.A. Modern materials for lining of induction melting furnaces
The questions of the application of quartzite based lining materials are considered in the article. The processes occurring during the operation of lining and factors affecting on its effective application are described.
Key words: Induction melting furnace, lining, quartzite.

Moiseyev V.S., Bobryshev B.L., Smykov A.F., Berezhnoi D.V., Mukhametov A.A-Kh., Koshelev O.V., Moiseyev K.V., Popkov D.V. Computer-aided design of processes for casting large-size castings from magnesium alloys
Considered are the issues of designing processes for casting body castings from Mg alloys in a composite mold. Developed was a software package for designing: the executable dimensions of the gating system; temperature of pouring the melt into the mold; melt temperature distribution in the mold at the end of its being filled;continuity of feeding the vertical walls of the casting and necessity of technological overlaps; risers and chills. The methods considered have been successfully applied as software packages for the production of large-size castings from ML5 alloy.
Key words: Casting, magnesium alloys, design, modelling, gating system, chill mold, core, riser, chill.

Marshirov V.V., Marshirova L.E. Mathematical modeling of solidification of alloys under impulse actions
The presented mathematical model is based on the use of the finite difference method. The model is implemented as a web application and allows users to explore the features of the solidification process and calculate the frequency of impulse actions. Using the model, the required frequencies for casting with a thickness of 7 mm were determined.
Key word:Solidification of castings, numerical simulation, fine structure, impulse actions.
