Abstracts:

Luzgin V.I. et al. Modern Technologies of Recycling Ferrous and Nonferrous Metal Scrap
Analysis of melting units used to recycle ferrous and nonferrous metal scrap is given. Advantages of induction furnaces for these and other applications in the blank production at machine-building plants are shown.

Sedelnikov V.V. et al. Information Material Science
The article discusses the issue of qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the structure and properties of materials both at their creation and in service. Evaluation of the influence of various technological and nanotechnological factors on the structure formation and properties of materials is proposed.

Marukovich Ye.I. et al. Improvement of Structure and Mechanical Properties of Cast A356 Alloy by Thermocycling
Effect of thermocyclic treatment (TCT) within the temperature range of 535...350°C, seven cycles, and ageing at 160°C for 4 hours on the change in the structure and properties of A356 alloy castings has been investigated. It has been found that TCT eliminates the dendrite structure, enhances the dispersity of the microstructure as compared to the standard heat treatment. TCT is shown to increase the ultimate strength of the alloy from 236 to 285 MPa and ductility from 1.43 to 2.96% as compared to the T6 conditions.

Stetsenko V.Yu. Inoculation Mechanisms for Silumins
New inoculation mechanisms for silumins allowing to explain the effect of such ino-culants as P, S, Se, Be, Ti, Zr, B, Na, Sr, Sb and others are proposed. It is shown that the inoculation of hypereutectic silumin is mainly determined by the inocu-lant's deoxidizing capacity, while the inoculation of hypoeutectic and eutectic silumins mainly depends on the processes of refining the melts from dissolved atomic and molecular hydrogen.

Lykasov D.K. et al. Properties of Aluminium Alloy after Homogenization of Ingots
The article reports that an increase in the homogenization time of a 2124 alloy ingot results in reduction of grain size and intergrain space, increase in microhardness and reduction of the volume of the elementary cell of the cc-solid solution. These changes in the microstructure with the increase in the homogenization time indicate a higher ductility and better manufacturability of 2124 alloy ingots.

Goryachek A.V. et al. Production of Large-Size Conical Castings from High-Temperature Steel by Centrifugal Electroslag Casting
A process flow sheet for the production of hollow conical 0.5 t castings by centrifugal electroslag casting (CESC) from consumable cast electrodes of 13Х11Н2В2МФ steel (ЭИ 961) is proposed. Chemical composition, structure and mechanical properties data of ЭИ 961 steel for CESC are given. The availability of the application of CESC castings in the gas turbine production is discussed.

Dovgan L.V. Analysis of Vacuum and Atmospheric Chemico-Thermal Treatment Processes for Metals
Special features of vacuum and atmospheric chemico-thermal treatment of metals are described. Advantages and disadvantages of said processes are shown. Processes of atmospheric heat treatment developed at the Institute of Gas are given.

Cheylyakh A.P. et al. Surface Hardening of Steels of Ferritic and Martensitic Classes by the Case-Hardening and Heat Treatment Methods
Possibility of improving the wear resistance by forming metastable austenite-mar-tensite-carbide structures in the surface layer by the case-hardening and heat treatment methods, said structures being capable of self-hardening during wear in combination with an enhanced ductility (12X17 steel) or high strength (20Г7СТ steel) of the basic metal, is shown.

Chumakov A.G. Method of Checking Turbine Blades Using Heat Wave
The possibility of using the heat wave method for conducting thermal check of turbine blades is theoretically substantiated. Impact of the non-uniformity of the radiation capacity of the surface on the check efficiency has been analyzed. An algorithm of filtering such artifacts is proposed. Results of computer simulation of the checking procedure are presented.

Kargapoltsev V.P. et al. Calibrating Equipment with a Function of Operating Fluid Modeling by Kinematic Viscosity Parameter
The article discusses approaches to conducting research and calibration work wherein it is necessary to use viscous fluids. Key problems arising in the development and design of calibration rigs for such applications and ways of resolving them are described. Key metrological characteristics of rigs operating on media with a variable kinematic viscosity parameter are presented.
