Chaikin A.V., Peplov D.V., Lazhechny V.I. Improving the production technology of critical railway castings «friction wedge» made from grade 35 cast iron
JSC «BAZ» has mastered the production of critical railway castings "Friction Wedge" made from grade 35 cast iron by casting into shell molds using steel shot as a support filler. This provided favorable conditions for the crystallization of finely dispersed graphite and perlite in the structure of castings and significantly facilitated the achievement of the technical requirements for castings made grade 35 cast iron. In addition, due to the optimization of operations for the preparation of charge materials, melting cast iron, casting molds and holding castings in them, a reduction in crack defects of castings by more than 50% has been achieved.

Malinov L.S., Malinov V.L., Lavrova E.V., Cis E.A. Improving the wear resistance of graphite-containing alloys by using atypical heat treatment technologies
It is shown that an increase in the wear resistance of graphite–containing alloys (cast iron SCH20, graphitized steel) during abrasive wear and dry friction provides the use of atypical technologies that ensure their structure, in which, along with tempering martensite, or lower bainite and graphite, there is a metastable austenite undergoing dynamic deformation martensitic transformation (DDMT) (self–hardening effect under loading-SHL). This structure is obtained by heat treatment, including quenching at a higher temperature than the typical austenitization temperature, and low tempering, as well as non-standard environmentally friendly isothermal quenching using a rational cooling and aging scheme: water-furnace-air.

Frolov A.A., Kozin A.E. Features of heat treatment of cast side frames of freight car trolleys
The complex of mechanical properties of cast side frames of trucks of freight wagons made of low-carbon low-alloy steel 20GFL, which have undergone thermal hardening (quenching and tempering) after normalization, is presented, measurement of thermal cycles. It is justified to increase the durability of the side frames by improving the microstructure of steel (sorbitol tempering).

The paper contain the main causes of defects appearance detected by fluorescent control castings according to the serial technological process in furnace PMP-2. Given the recommendations to reduce the number of surface defects.

The article presents an analysis of the application of the Casting Process Modeling System (CPMS) "PolygonSoft" for the optimization of technological processes in casting production. The study examines the visualization of pouring and liquid phase distribution, as well as the analysis of temperature fields and stresses. Special attention is given to the assessment of alloy crystallization, monitoring of the liquid phase percentage, and prediction of the probability of shrinkage defect formation.
