Poddubny A.N. The factors determining the hardness and wear resistance of Fe-C alloy castings
When studying the physical resistance of Fe-C alloys under conditions of the abrasive wear, there is a wide-ranging discussion to determine the main factors affecting the resistance of products made from these alloys. The main subject of the research is the role of the structures being a part of Fe-C alloys and their effect on the general abrasive wear resistance of products. For products of this type and the structural state of alloys, the microhardness of the metal base, which determines the carbide fixation strength and the general wear resistance of parts, is the determining factor to ensure high abrasive wear resistance.

The technology of induction melting of aluminum alloys containing gadolinium is developed. The structure, mechanical and neutron-absorbing properties are investigated. Promising research objects are ductile cast iron and high aluminum ductile cast iron, containing gadolinium.

Mukhomorov I.A. About dimensional accuracy of castings
The article lists the reasons affecting the dimensional accuracy of castings. Recommendations for the control of dimensional accuracy of the castings are provided. Parameters of the molding composition needed for production of castings with the required dimensional accuracy are given. The causes of casting strains of castings are shown.

Iksanov M.V., Golod V.M. Computer thermodynamic analysis of Ti–Al–V cast alloy
The possibility of determination of the thermophysical and physico-chemical characteristics of alloys by means of thermodynamic simulation taking into account the disequilibrium degree of the crystallization process occurred during solidification and cooling of castings in the mold is shown.

Desnitsky V.V., Desnitskaya L.V., Matveyev I.A. Creation of a casting technology for production of critical steel parts
In the operation of critical parts, such as railway castings, there are cases of a reduction in the load-carrying capacity of structural components as a result of the action of a combination of factors such as corrosion, reduction of fatigue strength, etc. For this reason, the short-term mechanical properties of specimens cut out from castings cannot describe the strength of the whole article, and the service life depends more on ductility of the material. In the course of this work, the casting technology for production of critical steel parts was created by combining the results of the analysis of solidification processes simulation and the operation of the cast part.

The results of a full-scale modeling of the investment casting process as applied to filling the press-molds with a model composition using the free casting method are presented. Surface phenomena at the edge of the flow front are discussed.

Andreev V.V. About manufacture of double-layer iron mill rolls with the use of centrifugal machines with a vertical rotation axis
The possibilities and prospects of the technology for manufacturing double-layer iron mill rolls with the use of centrifugal machines with a vertical rotation axis are considered. It is shown that hollow low-height billets, including double-layer vertical rolls, can and should be cast by the classical method with the use of spindle-typecentrifugal machines with a vertical rotation axis. Production of large-sized, long(high) and solid billets, including double-layer sheet rolls using the centrifugal machines with a vertical rotation axis is impractical.
