Belikov O.A. Operation of dual automatic molding machines
In connection with the appearance of dual molding machines in automatic molding lines (AML) the impact of the former on the lines’ performance, half-mold and mold production quality, design complexity, lines’ arrangement, organization of mold production area’s operation, lines’ resetting for the production of a new lot of castings is discussed. This is important for the selection of a competitive AML for specific production conditions.

Karpenko D.N. Evaluation of effectiveness of integration of a molding area and a casting conveyor
Use of a continuously moving conveyor is one of the basic methods of integration of different production sections. By an example of integration of a molding area and a casting conveyor there is shown a procedure for evaluating the effectiveness of the integration as worked out by A.P. Kupriyanov and amended by the author of this article, the application of which procedure allows providing recommendations on the selection of an optimal conveyor speed for a specific system. The evaluation is conducted by a generalized index considering not only the total output of the system, but also the average occupation of the conveyor with molds.

Budanov E.N. Stages of modernization of foundry production to V-Process technology
The article deals with the history and development of the V-Process technology, a wide spread of most various types of castings and alloys at the foundries of the world. The history of development of the V-Process technology is presented. Effective engineering by the analysis of experience of world leaders of production of castings is shown. The main efficiency indicators of the advanced US foundries are given.

The article discusses the changes in the curriculum for students at the Foundry technologies department in connection with switching to new teaching standards. The section concerning the practical training of the department’s students gives the content of each type of practice and shows exemplary learning tasks to be fulfilled by the students during the practice.

Semyonov B.I., Semyonov A.B., Semyonov V.I. Mechanism of manifestation of superplasticity of a-phase in a suspension from castable and wrought Al alloys
The revealed new peculiarities of structure formation when pressing thixo-billets from castable and wrought Al alloys are discussed from the position of transformation of latent (hidden) energy to free energy, which is taking place in the site of isothermal deformation. Thereby, the structure of a-phase in the metallic suspension is changed so that conditions are created for the manifestation of the superplastic deformation effect in the material.
