Mirzoyan G.S. Centrifugal Casting in Russia's Industry
Analysis of the current state of centrifugal casting at Russia's foundries has been conducted, and its development trend has been shown in comparison with foreign experience. The scientific potential of Russia's specialists in this field has been analyzed, and development of this advanced casting method for the next years has been forecast.

Gimaletdinov R.Kh. et al. Production of Centrifugal Cast Sheet Rolls at OAO Kushvinsky Forming Roll Plant
Casting of forming rolls in stationary molds — the "washing-semiwashing" method has a number of disadvantages. Application of centrifugal casting in a mold spinning around the horizontal axis ensures a small working layer thickness that is the same all over the length, the possibility of using high-chromium and other alloyed iron, improvement of cast iron sheet roll quality.

Bakhmetyev V.V. et al. Production of Bimetallic Forming Rolls at ZAO Mechanical Repair Complex for OAO MMK
A new technology of manufacturing sheet rolls with a barrel diameter of 700…1,100 mm using a centrifugal casting machine with a horizontal axis of spinning is presented. High-chromium (15…17% Cr) and "indefinite" (4…5% Ni) irons are used as working layer. Service durability of the rolls on the "2000" and "2500" mills at MMK has considerably increased as compared to the conventional technology of their manufacturing in stationary molds and exceeded the durability level of foreign rolls, which made it possible to abandon the import of sheet rolls.

Harris M.M. et al. Centrifugal Casting Equipment by the Company Centrifugal Casting Machine

Mirzoyan G.S. et al. Centrifugal Cast Diesel Cylinder Liners
Technology of centrifugal casting of a cylinder liner for DM21A Diesel engine is described. Its application resulted in the reduction of per-liner consumption of: metal from 130 (in conventional casting) to 90…95 kg, molding and core sand from 130…150 to 34 kg. The technology has been mastered at OAO Turbomotor Plant (Yekaterinburg).

Serebryakov S.P. et al. Special Features of Centrifugal Casting with Vertical Spin Axis
As applied to titanium casting production by centrifugal method, gating systems using the principle of filling several molds from a single outlet from the central riser ensuring improvement of casting quality and a higher metal recovery have been analyzed. Analysis of the mold filling process taking into account the energy of liquid flow in a radial gate has been conducted showing the possibility of decreasing the length of the radial gate and saving metal.

Lyakh A.P. et al. Production of High-Quality Centrifugal Cast Pipes from Heat-Resistant Materials at NPO Akhtuba The main demands made on centrifugal cast pipes from heat-resistant materials being used in the metallurgical, petrochemical and other industries are given. The equipment and technological capabilities of the centrifugal casting department at NPO Akhtuba commissioned in the Volgograd region is characterized. Special features of the centrifugal cast pipe production for the petrochemical industry are described.

Tinyakov V.G. Production of Double-Pour Rolls by Centrifugal Casting
Conditions of production of bimetallic iron rolls by consecutively pouring two metals into a spinning mold have been determined. Welding is ensured under the condition when the second metal is poured onto the solidified first (working) layer at the moment when the first metal has a temperature that is 80…130°C higher than the solidus temperature.

Mirzoyan G.S. et al. Double-Layer Rolls for Flour Industry and Technology of Their Manufacturing
In operation, flour-grinding rolls undergo significant strength loads, due to which higher demands are made thereon. The developed technology of centrifugal casting of double-layer flour-grinding rolls ensures their higher service durability.

Semyonov P.V. Heat-Insulating Coating for Centrifugal Casting Molds
Various types of heat-insulating coatings are described: pattern-molded, insertable core, free-flowing sand coatings without binder and with resin. Conditions for producing a smooth heat insulation layer of quartz sand without binder have been found.

Ivanko Y.K. On the Issue of Removing Endogenous Nonmetallic Inclusions in Centrifugal Casting
In centrifugal casting, favorable conditions arise for cleaning castings' metal from nonmetallic inclusions. To remove endogenous inclusions formed as a result of cooling of liquid metal the mold's speed of rotation must be stable, without decelerations or accelerations, and it is to be calculated proceeding from the intensity of heat removal from the spinning mold.

Rizun A.R. et al. Determination of Force Interaction of Electric Discharge by the " Electrode - Casting " Scheme on the Process of Mold and Core Disintegration
Force interaction of electric discharge on the process of mold and core disintegration has been determined, the value of pressure in and out of the discharge channel, the rate of discharge channel expansion have been established in the work.

Levshin G.Y. et al. Free-Flowing Burn-on-Preventing, Carbon-Containing Materials
Some issues of classification and application of free-flowing burn-on-preventing carbon-containing materials, modern conceptions of types and number of allotropic carbon modifications are discussed. Special emphasis is placed on pyrographite (pyrocarbon), carbon black and commercial carbon as a carbon black modification. Substantial difference in the properties between pyrographite (pyrocarbon) and commercial carbon is shown.
